Hampton's Line Wire used for Fine Art Sculpture

Karl Frandsen, first year student at The University of Northampton studying Fine Art, has used Hampton's line wire to develop an abstract sculpture 'Remainder'.

According to legend, after the death of Sir Charles Isham in 1903 of Lamport Hall in Northamptonshire, his two daughters removed 20 of the 21 beloved gnomes that once inhabited the Rockery and executed them with air rifles. Lampy, the last surviving gnome, was found many years later, hiding within a crevice deep in the rockery. 'Remainder' is a symbolic piece to reference all of the gnomes, each stem representing each individual gnome, the tallest being Lampy. The Victorian Alpine Rockery at Lamport Hall is home to the earliest garden gnomes in Britain.
