Hampton NET™ Otter Fencing at Six Lake Norton Disney Site

Hampton Steel works closely with Embryo Angling Habitats providing them with the best possible fencing systems to help safely exclude otters from fisheries.

Founded by Korda Developments owner Danny Fairbrass, the not-for-profit, Embryo Angling Habitats was setup to put something back into the sport Danny loves so much and to provide a positive solution to issues facing modern day carp fishing. Embryo has two main functions; to purchase and run their own fisheries as affordable venues for all and to help others protect their lakes from the increasing threat from predators.

Not only have Embryo fenced many lakes since 2015, including projects they have funded themselves, they offer their expertise to others at affordable prices.

Embryo’s most recent and most exciting purchase to date was a six-lake site in Norton Disney, Lincolnshire. Costing more than £1.2million the former gravel pit has undergone a dramatic transformation since its purchase in December last year with carp lakes now open.

Hampton Steel has supplied Embryo with thousands of metres of Hampton NET™ otter fencing and Versalok® metal posts for this extensive project and the onsite team has worked around the clock for many months to install the impressive boundaries to protect the prize stock. ‘We have worked closely with Hampton’s for over a year now on various projects, their quality fencing and metal posts provides us and our customers with the reassurance that we are installing the best protection for our fisheries’ said James Turner.

‘We wanted visitors to our lakes to see the views without noticing the physical barriers of management. Hampton’s steel system fencing and posts help us succeed in this. The fence and posts become almost invisible to the eye, perfectly blending with the surroundings’ said James.

Three of the lakes are now open; Pettitt’s Lake covering 16 acres with 200 fish to begin with, potentially rising to 300 later and stocked with nothing under 20lb; Billy’s Lake spread over 27 acres with 800 fish to start with, the smallest of which is around 15lb; and Turner’s Lake of 18 acres with about 600 fish similarly stocked with a minimum of 15lb.

Embryo is focused on the future of the sport helped by close relationships with Hampton Steel with whom they work closely in successful predation prevention.

Embryo’s recommended fencing and metal post supplier Hampton Steel Ltd. produces steel wire fencing, metal posts and associated products for professionals across the UK and overseas at their plants in Northamptonshire.  Hampton NET™ fencing is manufactured to BS EN 10223-5 and has the strength and versatility to help protect fisheries from otters effectively and without harm to the otter.
